Road freight

Road freight and container trucking

Air and sea freight only work if the goods get to the airport or port and from there to their destination. We organise pickup, delivery and container transport by truck as part of your shipment or as a separate transport.

What we organise

Pickup at the shipper and delivery to the consignee

Container transport to and from the port

Transport to and from the airport

One contact for the whole shipment

Truck transport is often part of an air or sea freight shipment. We plan it together with the main transport, so you do not have to coordinate several companies.

How container trucking works

01

The truck collects the container at the port terminal or container depot

02

Delivery to your site for unloading, or to the shipper for loading

03

Loading or unloading within the agreed time

04

Return of the container to the terminal or depot

Free time, demurrage and detention

Shipping lines allow a certain number of free days for each container. If the container is used longer, extra charges apply. Good planning of pickup, unloading and return keeps these costs low.

Demurrage

Charged when a container stays in the port or terminal longer than the free time, for example because it is collected late.

Detention

Charged when a container is kept outside the terminal longer than the free time, for example because it is unloaded or returned late.

What we need for a quote

Pickup address and delivery address

Container size, or number of pallets with weight and dimensions

Description of the goods

Desired pickup or delivery date

Loading conditions on site, for example loading ramp or forklift

Know your free time

Check how many free days the shipping line grants for your container and tell us when you request a quote. Pickup, unloading and return can then be planned to avoid extra charges.

Frequently asked questions

Do you also organise truck transport without air or sea freight?

Yes. We organise truck transport as part of an air or sea freight shipment or as a separate transport.

What do I need on site for loading and unloading?

A loading ramp or a forklift makes loading easier. If neither is available, tell us when you request a quote, so the transport can be planned accordingly.

What are demurrage and detention charges?

Charges for using a container longer than the free time granted by the shipping line. Demurrage applies in the port or terminal, detention when the container is outside the terminal.
